Most of our celebrations of late have been toned-down and at home. While many might see this as a negative, it is actually a wonderful way to relax a bit and spend time with the family. With Easter just around the corner, you might be stuck for ideas on how to celebrate Easter at home this year.
To make it as special of a day as possible, and to enjoy the time with friends at home, here are some ideas on what you could do on Easter day.
Decorate Eggs
Easter isn’t quite Easter without eggs! Decorating eggs on Easter is a century-old tradition and one that the kids love.
You could either decorate normal chicken eggs at home, using paints and markers to gently colour the eggs, or you could purchase an egg decorating kit. The benefit of purchasing an egg decorating kit is that the eggs are usually chocolate, and the kids can eat them after they are decorated!
This is an activity for kids and adults of all ages, and it lets your creativity shine through on Easter!
Plant A Flower Garden
Easter is a time to celebrate new life, and what better way to show this than through planting a flower garden at home.
Let your child pick out some suitable flowers at the nursery. Include some herbs if you want some extra ingredients in the kitchen. Spend Easter morning or afternoon planting the beautiful flowers in a spot in the garden.
Your children can have the responsibility of watering the flowers when needed, to make it feel more like their own.
Make Bunny Pancakes
All kids love pancakes, and on Easter, you can make them some bunny pancakes for them to decorate with fruit!
Making bunny pancakes is easy. To make a bunny pancake, you need one large circle pancake for the body, two smaller pancakes for the feet, and one for the head. You could then use folded pancakes for the ears, or sliced strawberries.
Cut up some fruit such as blueberries, strawberries, and bananas for them to decorate their pancake bunnies with. Use some cream to top it all off!
Go For A Walk
Sometimes the simple things in life bring the most joy. On Easter afternoon if the weather is good, get the family together and go for a walk.
It is a great way to spend some time together outdoors, taking in the natural beauty, and slowing down the pace to just enjoy each other’s company.
Bake An Easter Cake
Easter cakes are beautiful, and they are pretty easy to make as well. You can follow a simple vanilla sponge recipe, or even cheat a little and buy a box cake.
The fun part is decorating the cake! Use Easter eggs, Easter decorations, ribbons, sprinkles, and anything else you want to top it with!
The kids will love helping out to make a delicious Easter egg cake to enjoy after supper.
