Father’s day might be a little different this year, with social distancing and quarantine taking centre stage. However, this does not mean that he doesn’t deserve to feel special! Falling on 6 September, here are the best ways to celebrate father’s day this year for that special father figure in your life.
Serve A Deluxe Breakfast
His day will be started just right if he is treated to a breakfast suited for a king! You could go traditional with eggs and bacon, or you could try out some new brunch recipes that you know he would love.
Serve up some fresh coffee, some fruit juice, and maybe a mimosa or two, to make it a little more special than just a Sunday breakfast at home. They do say the best way to a man’s heart is through his stomach!
Organize An At-Home Beer Tasting
Many breweries are offering beer tasting kits for people to enjoy at home. So while he may not be able to visit his favourite brewery, he could still enjoy a beer tasting.
Order a beer tasting kit from his favourite brewery, or even try something new, and set it up at home. Pour out tasters of the lagers, ales, IPA’s and other specialties. You could even order one or a few from different local breweries.
You will be giving him a memorable father’s day experience, and supporting local businesses!
Create An Outdoor Cinema
If you want to avoid going out to the movies but know it is something he will enjoy, you can create the movies at home! You just need a projector, some blankets and pillows, and some snacks!
Choose a movie you know he will love, or even one of his all-time favourites, position the projector to shine onto a wall or a draped white sheet, lay out the blankets and pillows, and serve up some treats!
This is such a great way to feel like you are doing something special while at home, and it is something the whole family will enjoy. Try to choose a kid-friendly movie as well for the children to watch.
Bake Some Treats
Get the kids to jump into the kitchen with you to bake some delicious treats. Cakes, cookies, muffins, try and find a recipe that he will drool over, and put some effort into making it as special as possible.
Put your decorating hat on and try to make it suited to his interests, such as decorating it with fishing pictures or sports accessories.
He will love having his own baked treats to enjoy during the day, which he knows have been made with love!
Host Your Own Dinner Service
Plan a three-course meal that is suited to what he enjoys to eat, an appetizer, a main, and a dessert. You could set up restaurant-style tables and chairs in the living room or outside and light up some candles. Hand him a homemade menu, and have the kids serve him dinner!
The kids can wear cute little aprons and bring the food out to you (and then join in obviously). It is a fun way for the kids to be involved, and will help make him feel special!
